AT THE CAMBY HOTEL
Taylor + Scott's Sophisticated Wedding
TAYLOR + SCOTT | THE CAMBY HOTEL, PHOENIX, AZ — JANUARY 13, 2024
After nearly four years together, Taylor and Scott Kingery tied the knot in an intimate winter ceremony at The Camby Hotel. The candlelit affair at this premiere Phoenix wedding venue provided the perfect opportunity to celebrate love and laughter with their closest friends and family.
The Love Story
After meeting through a mutual friend, Taylor and Scott were immediately drawn to one another. What started as an exchange of DMs on Instagram quickly blossomed into a long-distance relationship grounded in friendship and fun.
“After our first kiss, we were inseparable – joined at the hip, obsessed with each other,” says Taylor, who for two years took redeye flights from Phoenix to Philadelphia every other week to visit Scott, a professional baseball player with the Phillies.
To him, Taylor is someone who instills feeling of adventure, a special kind of magic, in every little moment together. For Taylor, Scott is the epitome of generosity.
“He is the most intentional, kind person you’ll ever meet. He’s quiet, but he’s listening to everything you say, and he shows up for me in ways no one ever has.”
The Inspiration
When it came time to plan their big day, Taylor kept returning to one major source of inspiration – the old-school, New York Library nuptials of model Kate Bock and basketball player Kevin Love. With a candlelit, indoor winter ceremony in mind, the couple left the bulk of the planning process in the hands of the professionals.
Their wedding planner, Skyler from Phoenix-based Mandy Marie Events, recommended The Camby Hotel for its classy architecture. A black, white, and blue color scheme epitomized timelessness and sophistication, with bridesmaids in a wintery powder blue and guests dressed to the nines in all-black ensembles. Among them, Scott shined in his custom tux, Taylor in a delicate, feminine lace gown selected for her by her mother.
The Ceremony
Before the ceremony, the couple had their first look in front of a romantic wall of 700 lit candles, which cast the space in a warm glow ideal for a private exchange of vows. After sharing this moment together, they paused to capture some portraits, looking out on the sea of professionals who had worked so closely with them to make their day unforgettable, and Taylor felt overcome with emotion.
“They took such good care of us and treated it like this was their best friend’s wedding. It didn’t feel like we’d hired them. We felt so loved by them, even people we’d met that day. I just started sobbing, looking at everyone who was here to make this experience perfect for us.”
Scott’s best friend married the couple in a short ceremony before everyone launched into the celebrations. While guests began enjoying a sunset cocktail hour on the rooftop patio, the Kingery's' took another moment to connect over drinks behind the scenes, slowing down and reflecting on the significance of the day.
The Party
Following the cocktail hour came an elegant reception, with monochrome florals softly lit by candles and chandeliers. The speeches put into words the love that filled the room, with equal quantities of laughter and happy tears.
Once the dancing began in earnest, the couple switched over to their party looks, Scott changing into a white-on-white suit while Taylor traded lace for a sleek, form-hugging gown – this one chosen by her sister – which allowed her plenty of room to move.
This came in handy when the couple spontaneously jumped on stage to play the cowbell and tambourine, accompanying the electric guitar set performed by Taylor’s father, who was in a rock band in the ’80s. Their joint musical debut was captured on film in some of their most treasured photos from the day.
The music was still running through the newlyweds’ heads when they retired to their room around 5 a.m., partied out but too excited to go to sleep, reminiscing on the ACDC and Motley Crue songs that will forever remind them of the best day of their lives.
